THE CITY OLDER THAN HISTORY

The Holy city Varanasi is situated at the Bank of River Ganga and is one of the auspicious pilgrimage in India.
It is the world’s most oldest city to be discovered. By archeologists. They says it is 3000 year old. However it is believed to be more than 5000 year old. ‘Varanasi Is Even Older Than History’
This is famous is many Purans that Kashi is Santapharini(Reliever) and it is Mokshadayini(Saviour). Here sacrificing life leads to certain liberation.
Here’s situated Manikarnika Ghat where Lord Vishnu had done severe penance for Lord Ashutosh for the desire to create the universe. Many Rishi-Munies like Agasthya Muni and Vasisht Ji got their Siddhi(to meet the reality/creator) on this sacred Land of Kashi.

VARANASI’S ANCIENT STORY

Varanasi which is also known as Banaras and Kashi. It is one of the oldest city in India. Which has a history of more than 3000 years.
But very few people know that Banaras used to be a princely state before 1947, whose king was called ‘Kashi Naresh’.
Banaras is one of the most sacred places of Hindu religion, here there is a temple of Kashi Vishwaswar, here there are temples of many other gods and goddesses. It has been a very important center for 3000 years, Not only for Hindu religions but also for Jain and Buddhist religions.
Being on the banks of the Ganges, the trade that used to happen here was done through the boats that used to run on that river from Kanpur to Kolkata. Even 2500 years ago Banaras was a very important trading center and it continued. Because Banaras was such a rich and prosperous city, Pilgrims used to come here, merchants used to come. kingdoms used to come to visit Ganga ji to have darshan of ‘Kashi Vishwanath’ used to come to see the deities.
So it has always had a special status and that is why you see that Mahmud Ghaznavi, later Badshah Aurangzeb demolished the temple of Kashi Vishweshwar, There were attacks here. Later the Marathas wanted to rule again.Because it was a Hindu Pilgrimage site so most of the Kings wanted to rule here. Although the history of Banaras is more than 3000 years old, but the history of Kashi King’s family starts from 18th Century. In the Mughal period, Banaras was under Awadh Provence. The zamindars used to control the Awadh Provence and used to pay Lagaan to Nawabs(Governers) Around 1730, this Poira area used to be the zamindari of a Bhumihar family, headed by Balwant Singh.Their landholding used to be including Banaras city, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur and over all that are call Eastern Uttar Pradesh nowdays, And every year he had to pay rent to the Awadh Nawab.Now as soon as the power of the Mughals started decreasing in the 1740s and the Nawab of Awadh started becoming independent.The King Balwant Singh wanted establish his independent state

THE CITY ON LORD SHIVA’S TRIDENT

Many stories related to Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga are found in the Puranas. In which Shiva Maha Purana is very famous.
Satchidananda Nirvikar Sanatan Shiva had the desire to be one to two, so he appeared in the form of Shiva and Shakti, this was the form of Ardhanarishvara,
from Ardhanarishvara Shiva and Shakti (male and female) appeared. Both of them men and women started doing penance to see Shiva in their direct form, Pleased with their penance, Lord Shiva created the city of ‘Paramdham Kashi’ and himself sat here in the form of ‘Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga’
The glory of Kashi is infinite. Apart from Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirling, there is many pilgrimage places are here.
